Michel Moreno, A Master of Balance
From his abstract pieces Composition 1, 2 and 3, to the triumphant 1998 Football World Cup, Michel Moreno demonstrates his ability to capture movement through a perfect balance of shapes and colours.
Decomposition and Analysis
Michel Moreno is gifted with the ability to channel balance. From him flows a harmony of lines, wherein diagonal contours oppose and consume; giving the impression of verticality, elevation, a balance between responding shapes and flat colours.
Faced with multiple difficulties and simultaneous variations, with the tact of a tight-rope walker he plays with this desired partition to recreate harmony. A harmony where volume, fantasy and movement remain present, captivating the observer; his paintings speak, live and cry.
Like music for the eyes, his works sing all the notes of syntho-chromisme (a style that he created in 1976) by investing in the fields of colour and light.
Playing perfectly with geometric abstraction by using simple patterns (triangles and circles) or with more complex forms of entanglements and overlays in a symphony of pastel hues, Michel Moreno has perfected the spectrum.
His goal is to “to reach the point where colours are born and are distorted eventually becoming light, to paint from colour to colour, always keeping the same intensity.
Colours and shapes intertwine to express the effervescence of life.”
Rigor and Harmony
He is a rigorous artist that prefers to work alone. However, as a music lover, (particularly New Orleans Jazz) he sometimes invites his cherished musicians to feature in his work.
Harmony, always harmony… The distinctiveness of his meticulous work has helped him attain many prestigious exhibitions in France, China, and the USA, as well as the recognition of a growing public and the press.
Imperturbably, he pursues the never-ending search of perfection between balance and movement.
As seen in the abominable Football World Cup 1998, that depicts the legend Zidane catapulting France to victory.
A model of exactitude in the image of this exceptional sportsman.
